Bug Bite Gone Bad

Well, Yesterday we were out bagging leaf piles so that we could get the yard looking nice for my graduation in June. About 2 hours into bagging, I started getting itchy on my right wrist. I looked at it, & it just looked like a bad mosquito bite. (white-ish & blotchy) . Well, at first it was small, so I finished bagging the pile I was on, & when I was done, I noticed it was MUCH bigger than before, & I saw 2 red lines going up my arm. Well, that scared me since a red line going towards your heart usually means infection...
So I stopped, took a shower, & the lines were still there, (they were separate lines..) Well, after my shower, I was getting really itchy... I was thinking I got poison ivy since the spot was now red, & still itchy...Well, my eyes were now itchy, & I started getting getting little red itchy bumps EVERYWHERE..Including my ears!..It was miserable....I took an antihistamine & then put lotion on, & that helped some for the other itches after about 30+ min...
Well, the spot on my wrist was getting redder, & bigger... The second line past my elbow disappeared but the one closer to my wrist was still there, & getting longer...(it got to about 1 in. from my elbow). & to top it off, I re-hurt my wrist. (It's explained in my 2nd blog post. I sprained a muscle or something) Well, several hours later, the spot was progressively getting bigger, & now hurting some. (the itching stopped some)

As it progressed, we noticed 2 little pin hole sized holes where the "bite" was. Apparently a spider had bitten me while I was bagging leaves. The holes after several more hours were starting to get pussy, hurting, swelling more, & now itching.. We researched some on spider bites thinking it could be a bite from a black widow, or a brown recluse. But I didn't have any of the symptoms of the widow or recluse venom.
The bite by 8:00 or 8:30 was now about 3" round, & the line staying at 3-4". (We tried Tea-Tree oil, & benadryl cream, but that didn't work. & we tried icing it, but it hasn't helped much at all.) We contacted Mr. Loyd from church, & he said just to ice it, & do the benadryl. (we sent him pics. They are below.) It's been over 24 hours, & I'm not majorly ill or anything, so thankfully it was not a highly venomous spider!!

Today it's doing a tad better. The swelling has gone down, & so has the line, but my wrist still hurts, & same w/ the spot... & it's still majorly itchy... (I can hardly use my right hand/arm w/out it hurting. I can do some things, but not for long....I re hurt my wrist when getting Liana off the potty. I picked her up wrong, my wrist went out, & then began hurting.. (this is after the bite, so it might have had something to do w/ it.)

It's much better looking now, than last night! lol! Dr. Loyd said that it'll last about 5-8 days... So it should be better soon! :)

- This was around 8pm last night. This is to show the amount of swelling that occurred. It was pretty bad...The whole red spot went around half my arm! It reached the second tendon on wrist, & as you see, a fair amount around the other way, too.

- I don't know if you can see it this small, but the 2 little white dots are where the spider fangs got me. You can also see the redness & swelling along w/ part of the red line at the bottom of the red swollen patch. (Don't worry about the scratch, or the red bump. Those were from Sat. when we were at a friends house) - This is to show the whole thing. The red spot w/ the red line going towards my elbow. (The lighter "freckle" was to mark how far the red line was going. (just permanent marker.) Thankfully the line never got any bigger!

  2. Ow, that looks like it hurts! I'm glad it was nothing terribly serious and that you're on the mend.
