A Hairstyle...

Sometime last year I was playing around w/ my hair doing some hairstyles. We had been looking on YouTube and this one lady had several videos one some hairstyles. This one I did, I just used some of her ideas to create my own! I think it turned out well for my first time doing this hairstyle!

These pics were taken w/ my phone, so they aren't the best quality...

Top!

I will try to remember to take pics on how to do this hairstyle. It's fairly simple & very versatile.

How to do it:

Brush your hair, & put it up in 3 ponytails. One on top, one directly below, & then one at the nape of your neck. You will be leaving the top 2 hair bands in. The bottom is just to hold the hair so it doesn't get in the way.

Take the top ponytail. I twisted it just as if you were going to do a normal bun. Twist slightly off center on  one side of your head into a small bun. Pin in place where needed.

Take the second ponytail. Split in half as if you were going to braid, but only 2 sections.
(You could braid if you want, but I didn't) This section, I did a chain knot.
http://www.youtube.com/user/torrinpaige#p/u/54/1vW03394oqE is the video that has the chain knot. She does it at the 5 min. mark in the video titled: "Super Fancy Up-Do part 1)
The chain knot, you wrap around the twist bun that you made, but on the opposite side of your head...
(Does that make sense?) Pin in place where needed.

Finally, the third ponytail. Take the hair band off, & brush this section. Brush the section upwards to cover the second hair band. Wrap around the 2 buns you made wrapping in the direction of the twist bun.
(Mine was on the right.) Don't wrap so tight that it looks like it's pulled. Just loose enough so the hair is evenly placed. Twist it as you get to the top so it will blend, & will be easier to pin in place.

And for a little embellishment in the empty space, I just used a quilt pin (w/ a whit top, but any color will do) & some 1/8" (or any other size) wide satin ribbon. I'm not sure how long i made it, but it was pretty long.
Tie a knot at one end of the ribbon. Stick the pin through the knot, & just loop the ribbon & sticking the pin in the ribbon to form flower petals! Any sized loop works. I did both large & small loops.

I used (extra hold) hairspray as an added security so the wrapped hair wouldn't fall, but you don't have to use hairspray. This hairstyle works great for special occasions, church, or for re-enactments for the Victorian or Edwardian eras!!

Week In Feminine Dress Day 6

Today I am wearing a dusty purple jumper that I got for Christmas from my Memere, and underneath I am wearing a white Aeropostle shirt that has 3 brown birds on the front, & on the back, a big brown oak tree!

You can see one of the birds in the front, and the oak tree in the back!

The jumper is about knee length, and used to me my Memere's when she was my age!

I decided to style my hair today. (skipped the makeup..) I have it curled, and pulled back in a pretty clip! (I think we got it at Wal*mart) I'm not wearing any jewelery today....

New Haircut, and WIFD Day 1

Friday my family and I went to a friends house to get haircuts! (She's a wonderful hair stylist! Thank you Mrs. V!)
She curled it w/ a flat iron and it looked LOVELY!! I tried to copy that look again today w/ a curling iron... It didn't work out too well! :P I need to buy a flat iron for it to work. Plus it's kinda humid today and that doesn't help any. Anyways, below is a picture of my new haircut.

I like this cut much better than my last one! I have a long face, and long hair makes it look longer, so the shorter hair works better. Plus this cut makes me look more my age than the last one did!

Today is Day 1 of the Week In Feminine Dress!
Today I wore a pretty pink & white floral knee length dress with a white shirt underneath for modesty. I got the dress on sale at JC Penny's for about $26.00. It's one of my favorite dresses! (I'll wear my other fav. dress later this week!) The coordinating color the defines the empire waist pulls into a sash.
I curled my hair (the curl has fallen out since this morning...) and kept it down. I'm wearing a necklace my Memere (Grandma) gave me for Christmas one year, and a pair of pink dangley earrings I got for Christmas from my Mom & Dad last year! I was also wearing a white pearl (not real pearls) bracelet, but took it off after I got home from church. :)
I wore white flip flops, too.
