My Day - A Sunny Saturday!

(Looking at one of the pastures)

Today was a lovely day! We went to a friends house for the day (The Heaney's. Some of you from church may know them)! We arrived there in the morning, (around 11). We were waiting for some of them to come back from the pasture, so while I waited, I swung on the swing for a few minutes just drinking in God's beautiful creations, and listening to the birds sing "Glory to God!" :) It was soo peaceful!

It was so nice just to stop for a bit & not think about "life"..

(Looking up the tree the wooden swing was hanging from. Looks prettier in person!)

I was enjoying the peace for several minutes until everyone started coming back from the pasture, & I looked down to THIS!

Yep...Lydia stepped in a fresh cow-pie....ICK!!!  It was time to get back to reality... lol!

After the clean-up of Lydie, we went inside to see the Heaney's new kittens! The kittens were born just a few weeks ago! Here are pics!  (I'm using my phone for pics to they aren't that great.)

Ellie, the mama, & her 5 precious kittens! (one is under the 2 white ones) We (Me, Lydia, Liana, Caley, & 3 of the Heaney boys) sat there for a while just petting them, & naming them! Here are the names we thought of for each kitten.

This is Marty. She is named after Marty (Clerage sp?) Davis from the Love Comes Softly series. :) She is gray with white lips, tummy, & paws.

This is Missy. She is named after Missy Davis (Lehay) from the Love Comes Softly series. She looks like her mama being black & white. She has more white on the back of her neck.

This is Willie, the only boy in the litter. He is named after Willie "Nate" Lehay from the series Love Comes Softly. He has less white on the back of his neck.

This is Snow White. She has gray tips on her ears, & her tail is a light gray color. She looks very similar to Dusty, but has less gray, & her nose area is white.

This is Dusty! I named her Dusty because she looks JUST like my last cat, Dusty who was a creamy white w/ gray on her face, ears, paws, & tail! :) (both are girls!)

Here is the whole litter together :) Aren't they cute??!?! They are so soft, and fluffy!

Mama cleaning her babies. She is a very good mama cat! She's very protective of her babies, which is good!

After that, we were called to lunch. After lunch we played several (4) rounds of capture the flag! (all 10 of us! (4 Heaneys & 6 Lemays) Well, Liana & Lydia we're just there to be our buddies, but they had fun, too!) We played for hours! I haven't played that hard in a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time!! I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow! lol! Good thing it's Sunday, the day of rest! :)

We didn't leave their house (our old place) till about 6:30! We had such a good time. I will miss them when we move!

Have a happy Resurrection day, everyone!

Trinity Helping Me Quilt

**Edited to make the videos work**

Today I was finishing up the quilt blocks. Later on in the day I had a chance to cut out the sashing for my quilt! Trinity decided to help me out. ;) lol! As I was smoothing out the fabric before I cut, Trinity would pounce on it & my hands! lol! I took some video of her goofing off!

Attacking the fabric

Caught it!

She was just having too much fun!

After she wandered off, I finally got it smoothed, & cut out.

The sashing is 4" wide, and about 21" long. The finished quilt should be able to fit a twin sized bed!
(I'm hoping)

I'll take a pic of the quilt laid out sometime when I get a chance to lay it all out again.

Trinity Goes for a Ride!

Yesterday the weather was just lovely! In the early evening, we were outside, and I was pushing Jaden in his stroller, & since Trinity was just itching to go outside, I put her in the basket of the stroller. I just walked up & down the sidewalk, but she & Jaden loved it! :)  She also curled up on the loose fabric between the cup holders of the stroller, & the stroller seat! She liked it there even better!

Here is a video I took. It's short because my iPod died while I was filming...Also, sorry the video is sideways. I didn't realize how I was holding my iPod while I was filming!
I'll try to remember to take a better video another day for you all! :)

Lots to catch up on - Super long post, my friends... And Lots of pics!

Hello all followers of "Daddy's Maiden"! Thank you all for being patient for me to write a new blog post. It's been quite a while!

Life here in the Lemay household has been busy.
Our new kitty, (who has been here for about 3 months now)Has received a lovely new name! Instead of Tinkerbell, we named her Trinity! (For her lovely 3 colors!)  She is sooo pretty! She's like THE BEST cat ever! She likes to sleep on my bed at night, and before bed, (most every night) she will go bonkers! She just runs crazy across the back of our couch, & from room to room. Sometimes she even chases the girls or me! lol! (She likes to "hug" by wrapping her paws around your leg as you walk by! lol!)
She also loves to be held! When I pick her up, (oranyone else) she'll wrap her paws around whoever's neck & purrs! So sweet! Here is a picture of her under our Christmas tree:

And w/ me!

We had a very nice Thanksgiving! We invited 2 families from church over, & we stayed up until midnight chatting and laughing around a bonfire in our side pasture. it was lots of fun! It was also my first year to do the turkey! (by myself! lol!) We did it in a countertop roaster. (a nice BIG one!) It turned out great! Tender, juicy, & flavorful! All we did to season it was rub shortening, Thyme, & a little bit of sage on the bird. We roasted it at 350* for about 6 or so hours. It was a 22 pound turkey! I wish I took a pic of it! lol! ;)

We did not go to the Dickens on the Strand... it was pretty cold that day, and Aaron wasn't feeling all that well to go. My costume also wasn't finished. But I worked on it the rest of the week.

I was told my Christmas present early the week before. My dad was going to take me to the Houston Ballet performance of  The Nutcracker! It was ASTOUNDING! I have never been to a live performance of a ballet in my life, and the Houston Ballet sure made my first experience memorable, & making me want to go back time & time again! I wore my Victorian outfit to the ballet that night. I was working on the jacket until a few hours before I had to get ready to go. Talk about cutting it close! ;-)

I did find a hat to make my creation! (sadly I didn't think of taking any before pictures...) but it was an ugly yellow straw hat from the dollar store. We shaped the crown so it wasn't so "farmer" like & then Aaron spray painted it black. After that dried, my mom helped me to decorate it w/ left over lace from my Victorian jacket, & some cranberry red ribbon. I bought some little red flowers (fake) from Wal*Mart, & we had some fake ivy laying around, & we added that to the front of the hat. We also turned up the back & the left side of the hat brim to make it more stylish, & period correct.
It looks really pretty!

The jacket was the hardest to make... I have never sewn a jacket of any sort before, so this was a challenge. And anyone who has made it from the Butterick pattern 4954 knows what I'm talking about w/ the pleats. I ended up altering the pleats some since I couldn't understand the vague directions given...(I also shortened it a little too late in the sewing process, so that didn't help any!) I just did it how it worked, & seemed logical.
But all in all it turned out well for my first jacket!

The skirt I altered some. Instead of making it gathered all around, I made it a gored skirt. (pleated in just the back.) I like the look of it better for the fabric I used. The hem is just a short 1/2" hem since when I wore my boots (purchased on amazon) the skirt didn't really need to be shortened.
Here are some pics:

If you go a few posts back, you can see what my boots look like! :-)

Earlier this week we had our grandparents out for an early Christmas together. I enjoyed having them come down to visit! (Especially since they came down in June for my graduation!) Trinity tolerated their little pooch, Muffy. (She likes to bark & chase cats so Trinity spent most of the time on my bed, or in the kitchen area where the dog couldn't see her for the most part. ) Trinity is glad that Muffy is gone so she can have full reign of the house again and go bonkers at night! lol!

For Christmas this year, we plan to have a nice quiet time at home as a family. (Unless we're invited to someone's house or have someone over. We'll see! As far as I know it's just us at home, which I'm fine w/! I enjoy that!)

We'll, that's about it! Hope I didn't bore you all!
Have a very blessed & merry Christmas!
In HIS ever loving & caring arms,
Megan

Here, Kitty, Kitty!

I'm sooo excited!! We (as a family) have decided to get another cat to be mouser (to catch critters) in our home! Today we found on craigslist a FREE calico cat who is 4 years old. Her given name is Tinkerbell. We're not sure if we'll keep that name, or change it. We'll see!

She is super sweet, friendly,& already spayed & declawed! The owner will be dropping her off sometime today! Below are 2 pics the owner took.
She's so cute!!  I'll add more pics later.
